Superintendent's Statement Regarding School Shooting

Earlier today Freeman School District suffered a tragic shooting at their high school. As we were made aware through the news media of the shooting, we learned the shooter was apprehended quickly. Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, families, staff and community of the Freeman School District. When tragedies such as these take place, it impacts us all.

Colfax School District maintained our regular Wednesday early release schedule. We did not implement any form of lock down or emergency procedures as there was no threat to our students or staff. We remain vigilant to ensuring students and staff are safe every day. It is our top priority as a school district. We have safety protocols and procedures in place and practice these procedures throughout the school year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the district office or your student’s building principal.
